Uplifting lives and fostering hope every day
Kiya.life, officially recognized as “Keeping Indigenous Youth Alive,” is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and uplifting the lives of Indigenous youth on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. Our mission is to provide essential resources, opportunities, and programs that foster growth, resilience, and a sense of community among Indigenous youth.
Founded to address the critical needs of Indigenous youth in our community, Kiya.life has been instrumental in launching various projects and initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life for young people. Our efforts include educational programs, mental health support, cultural preservation activities, and physical wellness initiatives. A significant part of our mission involves hands-on construction projects, community events, and essential resource distribution.
This proposal outlines the need for funding to purchase a reliable used 4x4 pickup truck and trailer. These vehicles are essential for the effective execution of our projects and activities, including but not limited to construction projects, firewood collection and distribution, participation in local events, and the transportation of our miniature therapy horse.
Construction Projects
The acquisition of a 4x4 pickup truck and trailer will significantly enhance our capacity to undertake and complete construction projects. Notable among these projects are the log cabin project and the playground project. Both endeavors require the transportation of heavy materials, tools, and supplies to remote locations. A sturdy 4x4 pickup truck will facilitate the safe and efficient delivery of these essentials, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget.
Firewood Collection and Distribution
The harsh winters on the Pine Ridge Reservation necessitate a consistent and reliable supply of firewood to keep families warm. Our organization has taken on the responsibility of gathering and delivering firewood to those in need. A 4x4 pickup truck and trailer will enable us to transport larger quantities of firewood, making our distribution efforts more effective and reaching more families in a timely manner.
Community Engagement
Participating in local parades and events is a vital aspect of our outreach and engagement strategy. It allows us to connect with the community, raise awareness about our mission, and foster a sense of solidarity. The truck and trailer will be utilized to transport our team, promotional materials, and our miniature therapy horse to these events, creating a visible and impactful presence.
The acquisition of a 4x4 pickup truck and trailer will have a profound impact on our organization and the community we serve. It will:
To achieve our goals, we are seeking funding support to cover the costs associated with the purchase of a good used 4x4 pickup truck and trailer. We have conducted thorough market research and have identified the following estimated costs:
Total: $20,000
The funding for a used 4x4 pickup truck and trailer is critical to the continued success and expansion of Kiya.life’s projects and initiatives. With these vehicles, we will be better equipped to serve our community, meet the needs of Indigenous youth, and make a meaningful and lasting impact on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.
We respectfully request your support and consideration for this funding proposal. Your contribution will help us achieve our mission of “Keeping Indigenous Youth Alive” and provide vital resources and opportunities for a brighter future.
