KIYA LIFE began as a grassroots organization running a family traditional pow-wow 15 years ago. Today we not only host the annual Chief Old Man Afraid of His Horses Traditional Pow-wow, we also host numerous youth activities and community building projects.

The Chief Old Man Afraid of His Horses Traditional Pow-wow is an annual cultural celebration and youth camp held on the Pine Ridge Reservation at the Chief Old Man Afraid of His Horse Memorial Park in the Payabya community (District 4) in South Dakota. It honors the prominent 19th-century Oglala Lakota leader, Tašúŋke Kȟokípȟapi (often mistranslated as "Man Afraid of His Horses").
